The competitive swimming season in Far North Queensland extends from September to March although squads for swimmers of all levels are available all year round. The Marlin Coast Swim Clubs holds its’ club nights on selected Friday nights from 6pm until 8pm throughout the season. All swimmers compete against their own best time in club events. On club night’s swimmers are graded so that they swim against others of similar ability regardless of age or gender.

Marlin Coast Swim Club is based at the Smithfield Bicentennial Pool only ten kilometres from the Cairns CBD and in close proximity to the Cairns Beaches. Marlin Coast are happy to offer their swimmers a 25 metre heated pool under roof along with the 50 metre Olympic pool. The centre provides the perfect venue to race and enjoy watching swimming from the covered grandstand or under a tropical palm.
In addition, Marlin Coast enjoys the solid support of many families who support the club through donations of time, skills and resources. We are greatly indebted to all of these people for their support.

The Marlin Coast Swimming Club was established in 1986 and was based in these early years at the recently closed Billabong Caravan Park pool at Clifton Beach. This small pool was used for training both club members as well as providing Learn to Swim lessons for the general public. In 1988, after the completion of the new facility at Smithfield, the Marlin Coast Swimming Club moved its’ base to this modern complex.
The club presently has three life members who worked tirelessly for Marlin Coast in its formative years. These Life Members are Mr Laurie Kent founding Head Coach, Mr Arthur Stroud and Mrs Marie Bacon long-term committee members. We are indebted to these foundation members for building the club to its’ present day strength within the Far North Queensland Regional Swimming Association (FNQRSA).
